The Beth Mugo Cancer Foundation has partnered with Co-op bank to offer Countrywide cancer screening.

The first clinic will be held in Kakamega County on Friday 27th and later to other Counties. The bank has set aside Sh10 million to be used in the campaigns against cancer.

Former Health Minister Beth Mugo who is a breast cancer survivor will host the screening. The campaign aims at identifying and cure cancerous cells at an early stage in the surge of lifestyle diseases that continue to ravage Kenyans.

“The recent surge of cancer-related health challenges facing the country has brought to the fore the need to ramp-up early cancer screening campaigns to help identify in good time cases where early intervention can help,” read the foundation’s press release on Thursday.

The Co-operative Bank Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Gideon Muriuki has urged the public to cooperate in the early screening program to combat the fatal lifestyle disease that has claimed lives due to late diagnosis.

“The Co-operative Bank has made available Sh10 million to be used over five years on the Prevention of Cancer campaign, and looks forward to supporting the free cancer screening camps in all counties of Kenya,” Muriuki said.
