Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has sent a nerving message to  opponents of Jubilee Party saying their candidate McDonald Mariga has no pressure over the ongoing ups and down involving his candidature.

Taking to social media to share a light moment he had with the former football star, the Senator rekindled memories which Mariga played in great football platforms insinuating that the Kibra by-election was a pulsating contest for him.

“Keyboard warriors must know @MarigaOfficial has played in front of a packed San Siro with over 80,000 ecstatic football fans.

There can be no greater pressure than playing in a Champions League night or in Derby di Milano. No wonder he is so calm amidst the persistent insults,” said the senator.

The Senator’s remarks comes at the backdrop of a meeting with IEBC’s Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC), where Jubilee Party initiated a spirited fight to have Mariga’s candidature reinstated.

On Friday, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official  from Starehe Constituency confirmed that Mariga is a registered voter.

The officer, Ismael Yassin, told the committee that Mariga had registered as voter on August 26.

The IEBC is set to give a ruling on the matter on Monday.

On Tuesday, Kibra Returning Officer Beatrice Muli gave mariga a red card after he found his name missing on the voter’s register.

“We received Mariga document on September 10 and Mariga went through the nomination process the same way other candidates did. We have a checklist which we use to clear candidates,” she said.

She further added that the only way she could authentic Mariga’s registration status was through the KIEMS kit.

The Jubilee candidate had presented himself with an acknowledgement slip to prove his registration status.

According to the IEBC, 30 aspirants registered to vie for Kibra by election.
