Malindi Member of Parliament, Aisha Jumwa, on Thursday, vowed to embarrass ODM Party candidate in the October 17 Ganda Ward by-election.
Jumwa, who hosted about 1,200 supporters from the 12 polling stations in Ganda Ward, exuded confidence that independent candidate Abdulrahman Omar would trounce ODM’s Reuben Mwamure Katana.
Jumwa also attacked local ODM leaders who were campaigning for Katana, calling them losers.
“Do not mind these losers campaigning for the ODM candidate because they have nothing to offer to the electorate in Ganda,” Jumwa stated while hosting about 1,200 supporters from the 12 polling stations at Mkaomoto area within the ward.
Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, has camped in Malindi for the past one week to strategize on how the party can recapture the seat.
Furthermore, Jumwa declared that she would not leave ODM but would instead fight it from within.
She noted she had done nothing to warrant her expulsion from the party.
“I am being accused of campaigning for Deputy President Dr William Ruto because he has money. If that is so, why are they not joining me where the money is?” she was quoted by KNA.
The Ganda Ward seat was declared vacant after the court nullified MCA Omar’s win on an ODM ticket in the 2017 elections.
Omar, however, defected from the party and decided to seek to recapture the seat as an independent candidate after the party allegedly refused to give him a direct ticket.
