Deputy President William Ruto appears to have moved on swiftly from his Party’s loss in Thursday’s Kibra MP by-election.

The DP on Friday presided over a graduation ceremony at the Meru National Polytechnic, in Meru County, affirming that he had indeed conceded defeat, and moved forward from the just concluded mini-political period.

Ruto had fielded former footballer MacDonald Mariga as Jubilee Party’s candidate in the poll, but ODM Party’s Imran Okoth floored his opponents, in an election where the losing team conceded defeat even before vote tallying was concluded.

Congratulating ODM on their win, Ruto noted that although Jubilee lost, the Party, which dared to venture into ODM’s self-claimed territory, managed to garner 26% of the votes cast, doubling its numbers from the 2017 election.

This, according to the DP, is an indication of the impact Jubilee has across the country, making it a worthy competitor in opposition strongholds.

“We have demonstrated unprecedented resolve, in the face of many odds, to proudly double our presence, in territory otherwise considered no-go & shamed those who betrayed our leader & party,” Ruto tweeted Friday morning.

Shortly after, the 2022 Presidential aspirant shared photos of himself, at the third graduation event at North Imenti based Polytechnic, resuming his infamous habit of transversing the country,  which has earned him the Tangatanga reference.

The DP hailed the efficiency of competency based training offered at vocational institutes, noting that the World Bank had already engaged Meru, Kisumu, and Coast Polytechnics in a Ksh6 billion deal, aligned with the Government’s Big 4 Agenda.
